London has so much to offer when it comes to hosting outdoor weddings. Whether you're looking for a courtyard, garden, or a rooftop terrace, there are plenty of options available.
There are too many to fit into one blog, but these are a few of our favourite outdoor wedding venues in (and just outside) London today.
Tudor Barn, Eltham
Perfect for: Cottagecore lovers
Situated in Eltham, just 20 mins from central London, this outdoor wedding venue is set in 13 acres of parkland, overlooking a medieval moat. One of only a few genuine Tudor Barns still standing today, it’s perfect for brides who want the rustic look without leaving the city! It also has lots of outdoor space, ideal for an alfresco reception and stunning wedding day photos.
Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey
Perfect for: A traditional large-scale wedding
If you're planning a traditional English wedding, then you'll want to consider Hampton Court Palace as one of your top choices. This beautiful Tudor palace is located just outside of central London and offers a stunning backdrop for any type of event, whether that’s an indoor or outdoor wedding. It's also home to some amazing history, with its origins dating back to 14th century. With 60 acres of stunning gardens, views of the River Thames and catering from Michelin-starred chefs, this is a venue fit for royalty!
Hackney Town Hall
Perfect for: The unknown British weather!
While Hackney Town Hall may not immediately make you think of an outdoor London wedding venue, it actually houses a totally unique semi-outside space. The amazing Atria location is perfect if you long for an outdoor wedding but are put off by the British weather. The urban courtyard features a modern glass roof, which provides the light and setting of an outdoor space, without fear of your big day being ruined by rain.
The Garden Museum, Southwark
Perfect for: An outdoors reception next to the River Thames
While you can’t get married at The Garden Museum, it’s the perfect place to host an al fresco central London wedding reception. Situated right on the banks of the River Thames, the Dan Pearson-designed garden is a gorgeously romantic private oasis slap bang in the middle of the city. Overlooked by a restored medieval church with vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows, this location is perfect for those that want a striking, yet modern, open air backdrop.
Dartmouth House, Mayfair
Perfect for: A central London location
Just a stone’s throw from central London lies this super stylish wedding location. Not only is the Grade II listed function space with high ceilings and large windows the perfect backdrop for any urban wedding, but there’s also an enchanting outdoor courtyard, which is perfect for drinks or a reception. While you can have a blessing outside, you can only get legally wed inside.
The Crown Tavern, Lee
Perfect for: A laidback wedding celebration
If you’re looking for somewhere to hold a smaller, laidback wedding, look no further than The Crown Tavern in Lee. The Courtyard, complete with views of lush gardens, is perfect for an outdoor ceremony or alfresco cocktails after the event. Perfect for intimate weddings, it can host 60 guests. For bigger weddings, the dining room has doors that open onto the courtyard allowing a hybrid indoor/outdoor big day!
South Place Hotel, Islington
Perfect for: A roof top terrace reception
If you’re looking for a super chic alfresco wedding in the heart of the city, look no further than this Conran + Partners designed hotel. As well as several inside spaces to host the big day day, it also includes a stunning rooftop terrace with sweeping views of London city – choose from either the Angler Terrace or the outdoor Secret Garden, with a ceiling of seasonal flowers.
Pembroke Lodge, Richmond
Perfect for: Spectacular wedding photo backdrops
Looking for the ultimate outdoor backdrop for your wedding photos? Then Pembroke Lodge is for you. Situated in Richmond Park, it’s the only wedding venue situated within a London Royal Park. While the venue has two lovely indoor spaces, perfect for all sizes of weddings, the jewel in the alfresco crown is the Belvedere Terrace, which looks out onto acres of the spectacular grounds. A truly romantic spot to say your vows.
Rangers House, Greenwich
Perfect for: Brides with a Bridgerton obsession!
An official English Heritage site, this gorgeous manor is the perfect wedding venue for any art and history lovers. Dating back to the 18th Century, the house is situated on the edge of Greenwich Park and houses over 700 pieces of Renaissance art! It’s also home to a romantic Walled Garden, which can be used as a reception space, after you’ve taken your vows in The Gallery, which has expansive bay windows providing gorgeous garden views. It gets extra glam bonus points as it’s also the home of the Bridgertons in the Netflix series Bridgerton.
The Walled Garden at Syon Park, Twickenham
Perfect for: A romantic garden ceremony
While this venue offers a modern marquee for ceremonies, the attraction for this lovely South West London based venue is the gardens themselves. It also provides the perfect backdrop for photos – with access to the lawn in front of Syon House, the grand manor house forms a spectacular backdrop for those special wedding day pictures.
