The Hazel Dress

The new Hazel dress has been unveiled! As part of our 10 year anniversary SIREN collection, we looked closer to home for the inspiration. Inspired by our very own our marketing guru, Jemma (Sabina’s very own sister nonetheless) who got married last week and her grandmother, Hazel; the brand new Hazel was a true labour of love. Mixing themes of woodland weddings, ethereal pixies and a good shot of signature Sabina Motasem modern luxe – we channelled Jemma’s style, Hazel’s love of flowers, and Sabina’s clean lines all in one.

The vision started with a slightly inebriated session of sketches on a piece of scrap paper. Long sleeved, tulle and floaty was the name of the game. With a base of the slinky Valetti underneath for structure we began to make an entirely new overlay which nipped at the waist, skimmed over the hips, and flared out into a massive train. With soft polka-dot tulle chosen as the long sleeved overdress the next step was the appliqued flowers. Taking inspiration from Hazel Clarke, Jemma’s adopted Grandmother, who taught Jemma how to decoupage flowers, about flower fairies and how to grow flowers, we chose to use organza forget-me-nots. Stitched with gold to applique onto the dress, it played true homage to the memory of the beautiful Hazel.
