We are excited to be a part of EARTHDAY.ORG’s #InvestInOurPlanet campaign, in celebration of the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day! A more sustainable world starts with all of us.
From combating the impacts of climate change to sustainability and regeneration, preserving limited natural resources, and beyond, the role of each of us is important, more now than ever. Keep reading to see how we are doing our part at Sabina Motasem.
What we have been and are currently doing
During the first lockdown, we raised over £5k and we've donated almost 1,400 scrubs to workers in need all across London through Scrubhub. We were so happy to help essential workers at places including Homerton Hospital, Whittingdon Hospital, St Mary's, Lister, Chichester Hospital, Newham Hospital, Royal Free, Newham Hospital, Princess Royal, Coventry Walsgrave Hospital, a care home in North West London and lots of medical health centres. For more about our NHS donation process and our story, read the blogs here.
The Green Collection
We are proud to present our Green Collection, a range of ultra-modern, luxe dresses that are kind to the planet and the pocket. The dresses are made from natural, plant-based materials: circular viscose and cupro. The fabric is derived from sustainable wood and pulp from controlled sources. Certified by GRS (Global Recycle Standard), European Vegetarian Union, and OEKO-TEX 100 Standard. Lovingly designed and created with our signature style and quality, these styles are ready-to-order and available within 4-8 weeks. To browse the entire Green Collection, click here.
Off-cuts & Donations
For every single dress we make, all of the leftover and off-cut fabrics from both our Couture Collection and our Green Collection are transformed into one of these gorgeous tops and will be donated to Smart Works, a charity that was created in in September 2013 that exists to help unemployed women gain the confidence they need to succeed at an interview, get the job and transform their lives.
We’ve designed the Dahlia and Laelia tops with women in mind without compromising on quality, as they’re made in the same ateliers who make our dresses.
Dahlia is a slash neck topper with a keyhole back neck, and three-quarter length sleeves. Laelia is a pleated little number with grown on slash sleeves. They’ll go with any outfit: with a suit, with jeans… they’re made with love, made to last.
By purchasing one of our dresses, brides help reduce waste from the bridal industry while helping women in need and their communities, too.
And at each appointment, we will be giving brides a free, luxurious silk mask made from our off-cuts, too.
We are delighted to say we can be found on GREEN UNION, an eco-conscious wedding & lifestyle page, including directories and blogs!
GREEN UNION believes that eco-conscious and ethical weddings should be the norm, not an ‘alternative’- and so do we! The owner and editor of GREEN UNION, Gwenda, has been in the wedding industry experience for many years now. She is a floral designer and stylist and has worked with over 250 couples since starting in 2012. Gwenda took over GREEN UNION at the end of 2018 as she was looking for a new challenge, but also one which had a positive impact on the environment as well as being in the industry that she has loved for so long.
Thank you again, GREEN UNION, for letting us be a part of your GREEN movement in the wedding industry! Take a look at GREEN UNION's directories and blogs for more sustainable brands and companies to get inspired by!
Looking to the future
We cannot be more excited thinking about the future! We’ve got so many plans to change not only how our brand operates but the entire bridal industry!
Here are just a few things we’ve got in the works:
100% sustainable shipping packaging
New styles made from our off-cut fabrics
Eco-friendly garment bags
Taking action to become a B-Corp
Donating to even more women in need through other charities and organizations
And many more ideas still to come...

We can't wait to see just what we can accomplish... ONE DRESS AT A TIME.
