Met Gala 2022: get the looks with our dresses
Met Gala 2022 celebrated “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” and the dress code for the evening was “Gilded Glamour.”
According to Vogue, the phrase "Gilded Age" was coined by Mark Twain and is a reference to the Industrial Age between 1870 to 1890. This year's Met Gala theme took inspiration from the cultural shift experienced in the United States, but more specifically in New York City. Rich and luxe fabrics, shiny embellishments and gold details immediately flooded my mind.
Met Gala 2022 has created some talk already! From heavily guarded and archived Marilyn Monroe dresses to brand-new custom pieces, Met Gala 2022 is one to remember. Keep reading to see our favorite looks and how to recreate them with our dresses!
Kim Kardashian in vintage Jean Louis for Marilyn Monroe
Kim Kardashian turned heads at the Met Gala 2022 by wearing a dress originally worn by screen goddess Marilyn Monroe 60 years ago. The crystal-studded gown, made by Jean Louis, is what Monroe wore when she infamously sang 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President' to President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
The one-of-a-kind gold ensemble was purchased by executives at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for a staggering $4.8 million (£3.8 million) at auction in 2016. Since then, it has been kept in a temperature-controlled vault at a museum in Orlando, Florida. The dress was transported to Kardashian’s home in Calabasas, California by private plane and accompanied by guards.
Taking to Instagram, Kardashian said of the iconic outfit: "It is a stunning skin-tight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals by costumier Jean Louis. The dress could not be altered in any way", causing Kim K. to diet and lose 17 pounds to be able to fit into Monroe's dress for the Met Gala.

This style was ever-so-popular when it released! Lily Raindrop is a beautiful, soft georgette over-dress encrusted with Swarovski crystals, with butterfly floaty sleeves, pretty satin covered buttons in the centre back, low back, V-neck and puddle train.
