Our dresses are inspired by creative women who have changed the world with their artistic talents.
One of our iconic women we've named our dresses after is, Elsa Schiaparelli, who inspired our Elsa dress.
Elsa was one of the first ever fashion designers, who was infamously one of Coco Chanel's greatest rivals and mentored by Paul Poiret. She's known for turning fashion into an blank canvas and creating daring innovation. Schiaparelli connected with popular artists of the era; one of her friends was painter Salvador Dali, who designed fabric for her. Schiaparelli’s design styles had freedom of movement for the modern, elegant and sophisticated woman, with witty designs that embodied the surrealist movement at the time. After helping with the war, and returning to couture Paris, Dior's new look became popular, and Schiaparelli closed her fashion house, but she paved the way for future designers to follow her lead like John Paul Gaultier
We named our Elsa dress after this amazing, feisty lady, as its one of our most timeless, elegant styles that can be styled in so many different ways and is so flattering to different body shapes too. Its so versatile and looks and feels amazing.
As Meryle Secrest wrote in her recent biography of Schiaparelli, “Her clothes were smart, wearable, and sexy, and marked the wearer as an individualist as well as someone with a sense of humor". Elsa really pushed the boundaries of what fashion could do which paved the way for other ground breaking designers.
